When many people hear the word “pinball”, they may first think of gambling-style machines. But North American pinball machines are entirely different. They are mechanical skill-based arcade games with no cash or prize payouts. Players use flippers to catch a steel ball, hit targets across the playfield, and trigger multi-ball modes, animated sequences and high-score challenges. Regulated by the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA), the hobby has a full ecosystem of weekly regional leagues and ranked tournaments — much like darts or pool.

Pinball has enjoyed a steady resurgence over recent years, and its community keeps growing. Still, tournaments are hosted at scattered local venues, and many fans cannot travel to attend in person. Bryan Hunter, streaming under the name Super Spinner Pinball in Western Massachusetts, broadcasts New England Pinball League matches live to bring this competitive action to remote viewers. His creative multi-camera production rig earned him the Wildest award in our YoloBox Setup Showdown.
