Over time, especially if the device stays plugged in most of the time, that estimate drifts. If your device rarely runs on battery, it never gets the reference points it needs, and the drift accumulates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_fix_-_4_steps\"><\/span>The fix \u2014 4 steps<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Discharge fully.<\/strong> Use the device on battery only, no external power, until it shuts down automatically. Don&#8217;t turn it off manually \u2014 let it run all the way down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rest for 30-60 minutes.<\/strong> Leave the device off and unplugged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Charge fully.<\/strong> Plug in and charge to 100%. Leave it plugged in for another 30-60 minutes after it reads full.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Repeat 2-3 times.<\/strong> The chip needs a few complete cycles to fully recalibrate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of the third cycle, the display should charge to a proper 100% again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_expect_during_recalibration\"><\/span>What to expect during recalibration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The percentage may behave erratically during the first cycle \u2014 dropping or jumping unexpectedly. That&#8217;s normal. It&#8217;ll stabilize by cycle 2 or 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Runtime estimates during cycle 1 aren&#8217;t reliable either. Trust them again by cycle 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Preventing_it_going_forward\"><\/span>Preventing it going forward<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Run one full discharge cycle every 2-3 months, even if you normally keep the device plugged in. That&#8217;s enough to keep the display accurate long-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn&#8217;t specific to YoloBox \u2014 every lithium-ion device with a fuel gauge chip (laptops, phones, camera batteries, drones) works this way and benefits from occasional full-cycle recalibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_it_might_actually_be_a_defect\"><\/span>When it might actually be a defect<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact support if any of the following apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Device shuts down suddenly at 30-40% or higher (possible cell imbalance)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Battery gets hot to the touch during charging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Runtime is dramatically shorter than when the device was new (30%+ reduction)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The issue persists after 3 full recalibration cycles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any visible swelling or damage on the battery area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FAQ\"><\/span>FAQ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will running the battery to 0% damage it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No. The device shuts down automatically at a safe voltage well above the damage threshold. Occasional full discharge is safe and helps the calibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I know if I discharged fully?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The device shuts down on its own \u2014 you don&#8217;t press power.
