Parents work Friday shifts. Recruiters ask for film. The demand is there \u2014 what&#8217;s missing is someone who knows how to put a broadcast on air without a production crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kevin Egeland, an All-star contributor in the YoloLiv User Group, has been answering that question every week for long time: high school football on Friday nights through the fall, varsity basketball through the winter, streamed to the schools&#8217; YouTube channels. Full graphics, live scoreboard, multi-camera switching \u2014 run by one person, on venue Wi-Fi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Kevin&#8217;s words: &#8220;I&#8217;m a one man band operation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The setup questions he&#8217;s patiently answered add up to a complete playbook. His approach isn&#8217;t a stronger connection \u2014 it&#8217;s a lighter stream. Score, clock, period, always current, and he never touches it during play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The obvious guesses are wrong. There&#8217;s no data cable to the scoreboard controller and no OCR software. Avoid full auto-exposure on the game camera \u2014 it will pump as the sky darkens. Set white balance you can live with at both extremes or adjust at halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weather-proof the plan.<\/strong> Cold drains batteries; wind ruins open mics. What changes is the environment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Positions move to the rail.<\/strong> An elevated side view at center court replaces the press box wide shot; a baseline angle replaces the sideline camera. The scoreboard camera just finds its new target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gym lighting is consistent but unforgiving.<\/strong> No sunset to fight, but overheads can blow out the court while the stands go dark. Expose for the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Echo is the new wind.<\/strong> Gyms are reflective boxes. Headset mics close to the mouth; resist cranking crowd mics \u2014 the room reverb comes through plenty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Doubleheaders reward prep.<\/strong> JV at 5:30, varsity at 7:00 leaves no time to rebuild graphics between games.
